Early intervention programs are designed to arrest the development of mental health and/or substance abuse problems in their early stages before those problems begin to seriously impair functioning. At TCFS, groups with both a therapeutic
and education emphasis are the typical early intervention modality.
FAST invites all families with children in selected
grades to participate. Students along with their
families are asked to participate in a 10-week team-led
program to build family communication, skills, positive
habits, and attitudes of respect transferable to the
home, the school and the community. For more information....
New Directions is a program for students who have been
experimenting with or abusing alcohol and/or drugs. The
program focuses on three objectives: 1) providing
accurate information about the emotional and physical
effects of substance abuse, 2) increasing the students'
skills in decision-making and communications; and 3)
developing self-worth and positive peer relationships.

This on-site abuse program is available to St. Charles High School. A licensed substance abuse counselor from TCFS provides assessment and referral services and works with school personnel in their efforts to help drug and alcohol involved
students.

Smart Choices is a four session, research based cooperative program between TCFS and the Family Institute at Northwestern University. The program teaches participants conflict resolution skills and alternatives to a potential cycle of
violent behavior.

Smart Choices is a four or six session, research based
cooperative program between TCFS and the Family
Institute at Northwestern University. The program is
family focused and explores conflict resolution skills
with children from kindergarten through the fifth grade.
The wilderness challenge program is an annual week long therapeutic canoeing and camping experience for teens considered to be at-risk of a problematic transition to high school.
